Both men and women are invited to train with us. This class requires stamina and reasonable physical fitness. You should be prepared to push yourself past your limits in every class. Bruce Lee was a big proponent of physical fitness and we try to instill this into every student.
We train for real fighting
situations. Jeet Kune Do is not sport-fighting.
Expect to be trading punches and kicks with another person in every class. We generally begin with focus pad drills and/or footwork drills. You will learn specific techniques including fast-moving footwork and evasion.
Since JKD is based on the principle of interception, prepare to have feet and fists moving at you while you learn. As rough as this sounds, rarely do injuries occur. You will learn how to control your attacks for the sake of drills and avoid injury to yourself and others. There are opportunities for sparring after any class. Attendance and participation is optional.
